A screen time app for couples and friends. Walk together. Earn together.
Doomstep Together pairs you with one other person, like your boyfriend, girlfriend or a close friend. You each lock your own apps, like Instagram and TikTok. The steps you both walk earn minutes into one bank, and either of you can use them for a break. Your friend sees your steps and minutes, never your apps.
Coming to iPhone
One friend.
One bank of minutes.
You each keep your own phone, your own apps and your own goal.
Invite one friend.
Send a link, show a QR code or share a 6-character code. The invite lasts 7 days. You both agree that either of you can use the minutes either of you earns.
Walk, together or apart.
Every 100 steps either of you walks adds a minute to your bank. Steps past your own daily goal count double.
Either of you takes a break.
Pick a 5, 15 or 30 minute break. It uses your own minutes first, then your friend’s. Your apps open, then lock again when the break ends.
Better with a friend.
No chat and no feed. Just a few ways to keep each other going.
Cheer
One tap to cheer your friend on. Cheers and walk invites can arrive as notifications, never between 10 PM and 6 AM, and you can mute walk invites.
Let’s walk
Send “I’m heading out for a walk. Join me?” and your friend has 30 minutes to answer “I’m in.” Each iPhone records its own walk, side by side or miles apart, and the walk is saved for both of you.
Walk postcards
Send a walk to your friend within 48 hours, with up to 5 photos once you both turn on photo sharing. They react with one tap: Love it, Nice walk, Proud of you or Take me next time.
This week’s Climb
Every goal day either of you reaches counts toward one weekly target you both set. Reach your goals on the same 4 days in a row, and you earn a day off together, with your apps open all day.
Share the walk.
Keep your apps.
Together shares your effort, never what you do in your apps.
Yours together
- The bank of minutes either of you can use
- This week’s Climb
- Walks you take together, saved for both of you
- Postcards and one-tap reactions
What your friend sees
- Your name, your steps and your goal
- Your goal days
- The minutes you add by walking
- That your Doomstep is paused, never why
What stays with you
- Which apps you lock, and what you do in them
- Your Screen Time
- Where you walk: Doomstep has no GPS
- Your walk photos, until you both turn on photo sharing
What Together doesn’t do.
So you both know what you’re agreeing to.
Two people, not a group.
You can walk with one friend at a time. To pair with someone new, leave your current pair first.
Not a way to watch someone.
There’s no chat, no location and no list of apps. Together shares steps, goals, minutes, cheers and walks.
Shared breaks need a connection.
Your steps still count offline, and a break that’s already running always finishes. Starting a new shared break needs a connection.
Your friend’s numbers can lag.
You see your friend’s steps as of their iPhone’s last update, and Together shows when that was.
No promises about results.
Together doesn’t guarantee less screen time, more steps or a better relationship. It gives you both a reason to walk.
Questions couples ask.
Is there a screen time app for couples?
Yes. Doomstep Together is a screen time app for two people, like a couple. You each lock your own apps, and the steps you both walk earn minutes into one bank that either of you can use for a break. You can also cheer each other on, walk together and send walk postcards.
Can I use Doomstep with my boyfriend or girlfriend?
Yes, or with a friend. Together pairs you with one other person: a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, roommate or close friend. You invite them with a link, a QR code or a 6-character code, and the invite lasts 7 days.
Can my friend see which apps I lock?
No. Doomstep can lock the apps you choose, but it can’t see which apps they are, so your friend can’t either. Your friend sees your steps, your goal days and the minutes you add by walking.
Can someone else control my Screen Time?
No. You each pick your own apps and control your own phone. Your friend can’t lock, unlock or change your apps, and can’t start a break on your iPhone.
Do we both need an iPhone and a subscription?
Yes. Doomstep is an iPhone app, for iOS 17.2 or later, and each of you needs your own subscription: $39.99 a year, $9.99 a month or $4.99 a week in the US. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. A friend’s subscription never covers you.
What if my friend uses all our minutes?
Sharing means either of you can use the minutes either of you earns, and you both agree to that when you pair. A break uses your own minutes first, then your friend’s. Each of you can spend up to 180 minutes a day on shared breaks.
Are our walk photos private?
A photo goes to your friend only when you both turn on photo sharing. Doomstep removes the location and other details on your iPhone before a photo is sent. Shared photos are deleted when either of you leaves or blocks the other, and after a year at most.
What happens if one of us wants to stop?
Either of you can leave at any time from the Together menu. Your unspent minutes go back to your own bank, and minutes already used don’t come back. Your friend gets a kind note that your time together ended.
Can I block or report someone?
Yes. Block and Report are in the Together menu. Blocking ends your time together, and neither of you can invite or join the other again. The other person is told only that your time together ended. Doomstep reviews every report, and the other person isn’t told about it.
Same team.
Different sidewalks.
